Carrot Chantenay Red Cored Seeds (Daucus carota subsp. sativus), a popular chantenay carrot variety. It is stump rooted with a deep orange colour with a small core. This variety of red cored carrot is classed as a second early.
Start sowing Carrot Chantenay Red Cored Seeds from April to July
Sow chantenay seeds thinly direct into the growing site 2cm deep in rows and 30cm apart. If possible sow the carrot seeds carefully so that thinning is not necessary to reduce carrot fly.
Water before thinning the plants and remove all the debris. Do not transplant. Aim for roots 5-7cm apart. Young Carrots can always be pulled alternately to thin as you eat.
